How to Naturally Reduce Inflammation Associated with Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis, MS, Nervous SystemOne of the primary neurological conditions that afflict young adults is multiple sclerosis (MS). Double the number of women are affected as men. In the US, there are a quarter million MS patients.

This condition is a disease that afflicts the nervous system. It creates scar tissue from nerves, the spinal cord, and the brain. A mysterious disease, research has continued for years to find a cure, or even the real cause, with little success.

What We Now Understand About MS

Multiple sclerosis has been classified as an autoimmune disorder. Autoimmune conditions are ones that result in the body fighting against healthy tissue in itself. Also, MS has been associated with inflammation in and around the brain.

There are existing treatments that help to mitigate symptoms. However, upper cervical chiropractors are trying to do more than simply make episodes easier to bear. The goal is to correct an underlying issue that may be causing much of the inflammation and damage, thus slowing the progression of the disease or stopping it completely.

Targeting Nervous System Inflammation

Adjustment of the C1, or atlas bone, has been able to improve immune function for many. In one study, 48% benefitted. In fact, some multiple sclerosis patients even saw some damaged brain tissue begin to repair itself.

Dr. Don Erwin of Sacramento, California is an upper cervical chiropractor. This means that Dr. Erwin specializes in correcting atlas misalignments. Such a realignment can reduce inflammation and do much good for patients with multiple sclerosis.
