Combating Dizzy Spells in Sacramento, CA

Menieres, Vertigo, Dizzy, DizzinessSometimes it can be something as simple as standing up quickly that sets a dizzy spell off. At other times, any movement may seem to cause dizziness, balance problems, light sensitivity, and visual disturbances.

The vestibular system is in charge of letting the body know where it is in space and in relation to our surroundings. When something is wrong with this system, all of the symptoms above are possible. Consider the following statistics involving problems with the vestibular system.

  • Approximately 1 in 3 Americans over 40 has experienced a vestibular issue.
  • Approximately 4% of Americans deal with chronic balance problems.
  • 1 in 3 bouts of dizziness is caused by either Meniere’s disease or vertigo.

Any of these issues can take a toll on how a person lives from day to day. Even simple tasks like changing clothes and showering can become difficult.

The vestibular system involves an intricate balance that includes the level of fluid in the ears and certain particles that detect relative location. When anything in the system is thrown off, the body con no longer properly identify its location in space. The body may feel like it is in motion despite being still, or objects around the body may appear to spin even though they are stationary.

Since the medical industry has failed to provide effective treatment in most cases, more and more people are seeking alternative treatment for vestibular disorders.

The Upper Cervical Solution

Upper cervical chiropractic involves the proper alignment of the top vertebra in the neck (atlas). When the atlas is misaligned, the position of the head becomes unbalanced. The result can be negative effects on the inner ear. The symptoms of vestibular disorders can result.

If an examination reveals an atlas misalignment, specific adjustments are developed for each individual patient. Even just one or two adjustments have had positive effects in studies.
