Multiple Sclerosis is an autoimmune condition that affects the central nervous system. As with other autoimmune conditions, Multiple Sclerosis causes a person’s body to attack itself, particularly the brain tissue. The most common demographics for Multiple Sclerosis patients are women between the ages of 20 and 40. Diagnosis rate is up 50% since 1991.1
Researchers in Australia are trying to develop a drug to fight the inflammation that Multiple Sclerosis causes. 2 It involves the injection of a genetically engineered molecule into the patient’s blood. It specifically is supposed to target brain inflammation.
Dr. Raymond Damadian, known for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), has also recently performed a study involving patients with Multiple Sclerosis. He discovered that most of the patients had neck misalignments that resulted in a decreased flow of Cerebrospinal fluid.3 This research harmonizes with the natural treatment approach of Dr. Don Erwin in Sacramento, California.
Dr. Erwin’s approach to Multiple Sclerosis involves upper cervical chiropractic adjustments to realign the C1 and C2 vertebrae. Research has revealed that this is a successful treatment option for many with Multiple Sclerosis. Realigning the C1 and C2 vertebrae can serve to increase the flow of cerebrospinal fluid.4 This also results in less inflammation with many patients experiencing a reduction of symptoms or even complete resolution.
If you suffer from Multiple Sclerosis, now is the time to consult an upper cervical chiropractor.

The Journal of the upper cervical chiropractic research reported a case study by Dr. Nimira Alibhoy. A 45-year-old woman who suffered from two head traumas and 10 car accident sought out the care of an upper cervical chiropractor. After suffering from fibromyalgia for 11 years when she began her care her symptoms included:
After diving head first into a shallow pool when she was 15, she suffered from 10 car accidents over a 25 year period. This led to her being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia by a medical doctor, and five years later she suffered from another traumatic head injury when she fell down a flight of stairs. This only worsened her neck and back pain and sciatica.
Over the next 12 years, five general chiropractors offered her temporary relief from her symptoms, but she continued to suffer from chronic pain and depression. She also sought relief by taking Vicodin, Flexeril, or Soma for her pain. Her soft tissue injuries also limited her daily activities such as climbing the stairs, swimming, and walking further than 20 feet. And only the use of her wheelchair allowed her to accomplish more in a day without becoming too tired.
If you suffer from Fibromyalgia, it is important that you seek out the care of an upper cervical chiropractor. They will examine your neck for any misalignments in those two vertebrae and make any adjustments necessary to realign your upper cervical spine. This will allow the body to begin to heal itself of such health problems as Fibromyalgia.

When it comes to things getting on a person's nerves, there is a lot that can cause pressure against the Sciatic Nerve. That's because it's the largest nerve in the human body. It extends from the lower back, through the buttock, down each leg, and branches in two at the knee.
When it comes to the type of pain a person feels, it's pretty noticeable. There are many conditions that can cause back pain, as there are many possible signs of Fibromyalgia, but Sciatica is always felt along the sciatic nerve. That pain, which may extend down to the foot, may also include a “pins and needles” feeling, numbness, or muscular weakness. It may also feel like an electric shock that ranges from moderate to severe. It is more common to feel this pain, which often includes lower back pain, when sitting, coughing, or sneezing.
There are a several conditions that can cause pressure against your Sciatic Nerve including:
When you sustain an injury that causes your muscles and tissue to shift throughout your body, it places pressure on certain parts of your body. If an injury causes pressure against your sciatic nerve, that's Sciatica. The list above are not the only conditions that can cause pressure to this nerve, so it's important to make sure everything in your body is where it's supposed to be.
Though, while there is only so much an individual can do to ensure they maintain a healthy body, there is something an upper cervical chiropractor can do. They can examine a person's upper cervical spine for any misalignments that may be the underlying cause of their Sciatica.
When the top two vertebrae in the spine are out of alignment by only ¼ of a millimeter, this places enough pressure on the brainstem to hinder the brain's ability to communicate with the body. That miscommunication could lead to various health problems, but it is possible for those conditions to be reversed by realigning those top two vertebrae in the neck.

If you're in pain, but you're not sure what that pain is, it might be Sciatica. Of course, it's impossible to know for certain until you are examined, but the below condition may be indicators of an injury to your sciatic nerve.
As you can imagine, Sciatica occurs because of an injury to your Sciatic nerve, which is the largest nerve in the body. A person has two of these nerves, which begins in the lower back, extends through the buttock, and down each leg. Each Sciatic Nerve also has five spinal nerve roots that start in the lower spine. Sciatica occurs when something irritates or causes pressure again the Sciatic Nerve or one of its nerve roots.
Though, since Sciatica is caused by pressure against that nerve or one of the nerve roots, it is only a symptoms of an underlying condition. That pain can be treated with medication, but medication only covers the symptoms and doesn't address the underlying condition.
There are many conditions that can be the cause of this pain in your lower back and legs, including the following:
As we said at the beginning of this article, it's impossible to know for certain if your pain is Sciatica or not, but an upper cervical chiropractor can tell. They can examine your upper neck vertebrae for any misalignments to the top two vertebrae in your neck. A misalignment of those two vertebrae hinders the brain's ability to communicate with the body, thus leading to various health problems.

If you can't explain your fatigue and your chronic pain, a new study suggests that it may be because of sinus problems. This makes Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) both difficult to diagnose and treat.
A doctor at Georgetown University Medical Center discovered a connection between sinus symptoms and chronic pain in a study of 297 patients. 22% of those patients suffered from fatigue, 11% suffered from chronic pain, and 9% of those patients suffered from both.
No matter whether a patient suffered from one of those conditions or both, the study suggested each patient suffered from the same underlying problem. A misalignment in their upper neck was the cause of each of their sinus problems, chronic pain, and chronic fatigue.
Accidents to the head or neck can cause the connective tissue, which keeps the spine in place, to break down due to a head or neck injury. That breaking down of the connective tissue then causes the spine to break down and lock into a stressed position. The weight of each vertebrae in the spine then pulls down on each bone, and the bones that are affected the most are the top two bones in the vertebrae. That then then effects how the brainstem functions, thus leading to various health problems throughout the body.
Though, those health problems can be reversed by realigning the top two vertebrae in the neck. That is why it is important for patients who suffer from Fibromyalgia to seek the care of an upper cervical chiropractor. They will examine your neck for any misalignments in your upper cervical spine and will make any adjustments necessary those top two vertebrae. This will allow the body to begin to heal itself of chronic fatigue, chronic pain, and sinus problems.

Do you find yourself sitting at a desk for hours at a time? Do you ever wonder what the long-term effects of just sitting in front of a computer can do to your back? There is a good chance that you don't. You might even think that you're safe because you're not working manual labor job, such as one in the construction industry.
Though, sitting at your desk for eight or more hours a day can take quite a toll on your back. The Bureau of Labor Statistics even released a report that stated that the most common injuries that occur in the workplace are those that involve the shoulder, abdomen, arm, legs, wrist, and back. It is not just people who work in construction or other manual labor jobs that are at risk of injuring those body parts, rather it is anyone whether they sit, stand, drive, or do anything else all day.
It's important to take steps in order to avoid workplace injuries, but what you should do depends on the type of environment you work in. The important part is that everyone knows their individual responsibilities and what they can do to help keep their workspace accident free.
Below, we listed some of those more common workplace environments and those steps people who work in those environments can take in order to keep themselves and their co-workers safe.
Any type of job the entails heavy lifting, twisting of the body, or various types of outdoor work falls under this category.
Jobs that entail typing and answering the phone, such as receptionists, call center support, computer work, and related jobs fall under this category.
Anything from local delivery jobs to long-haul trucking jobs are included in this. Many of these jobs include manual labor.
Injuries in the workplace can be avoided by following the above steps and by using common sense around the workplace. Those things are sometimes things the employee can and should do, but many times they are things the manager or supervisor should do.
Though, the bottom line is that sometimes workplace injuries do happen, no matter how much we try to keep the space we work in safe. An upper cervical chiropractor can help you or your colleague get over their back pain by examining their neck for any misalignments in their upper cervical spine that may be the source of their pain.

When a person experiences an epileptic seizure soon after they experience migraines or a headache, they may be experiencing a neurological phenomenon called migralepsy. Migraines and seizures are both neurological disorders.
Because the symptoms, triggers, and treatments of both of them are often the same, there have been questions raised as to the similarities between the two. They usually don't appear together, or seizures don't often appear following migraines / headache, but that does not dismiss the fact that they may have similar causes.
Of course, since the symptoms of both are similar, doctors will often try to treat both with many of the same types of medications. That's because medicine is meant to cover symptoms, rather than deal with the underlying cause of a medical condition. Those medications may include blood pressure medication, antidepressants, beta-blockers, and more.
Though, there are those doctors who will try to determine the trigger behind either of those neurological conditions. The truth is that either of them may be triggered by food or beverages, such as wine or chocolate, so a change in a person's diet may also be prescribed to reduce triggers of migraines or seizures.
If a change in a person's diet does not reduce and eliminate a person's episodes, then exercise, massages, or other stress relieving activities may also be prescribed.
Fortunately, there is an option that will frequently get to the underlying cause of that neurological condition, and that's upper cervical chiropractic. A misalignment in the top two vertebrae of a person's neck, also called the upper cervical spine, can wreak all sorts of havoc on a person's body.
The reason for that is because the top two vertebrae in a person's neck are where the brainstem meets the spinal cord. Realigning those two vertebrae frequently reduces the symptoms of various conditions including seizures migraines and headaches.

If there is one common thing about every Sciatica sufferer in the world, it is that they don't want to suffer anymore. They want relief, and they want it as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, that means many people who suffer from this debilitating injury will seek that healing through medication. But taking medicine is one of the worst things a person can do to overcome this disabling injury. That's because medicine only covers the symptoms, rather than healing the underlying injury.
Even though, we are conditioned just to continue to take medication that covers symptoms, it's important to seek out the care of an upper cervical chiropractor. They will examine your upper neck vertebrae for any misalignments that may be the underlying cause of that lower back pain.
If they determine those two vertebrae in your upper neck are out of alignment, they will make the necessary adjustments in order to realign your upper cervical spine. They will then partner with you by setting up a schedule to keep you on a path toward healing, as well as give you exercises you can do at home.
Below are some exercises they may suggest. But it's important to check with your upper cervical specialist, and only do those exercises he or she recommends.
You will want to hold each stretch for 30 seconds before returning your leg to a resting position. It's also important to do this three sets of these, once a day. These exercises will loosen the muscles surrounding your Sciatic Nerve, thus lessening the pain caused by your Sciatica, lubricate your joint, allow nutrients and oxygen to flow to your muscles, and increase your range of motion.
While each of these exercises and more will help with that Sciatica, it is important to partner with your upper cervical chiropractor in the healing process. They are there to help you live a happier and healthier life.

When a person's nerves do not respond to their environment properly and thus cause a person to suffer from a more pain than usual, it may be that nerve damage that causes Fibromyalgia. That chronic pain may not only manifest itself as aches throughout certain pain points in one's body, but it may also cause a person to suffer from sleepless nights, irritability, depression, and more.
Though, the good news is there are steps a person who suffers from Fibromyalgia symptoms can take to overcome this chronic pain and suffering. Here are some of those things you or your loved one can do to take control of their life again.
All of the things listed above, with the exception of getting a good night's sleep, are choices you make to take back control of your life. Your body's nerve damage won't stop when you sleep, but you can take steps to lessen the pain during those restful hours.
So, those are some great ways to reduce your pain, so you can get a good night's sleep, but they won't stop any nerve damage. You'll need to get to the source of your chronic pain, which may be due to a misalignment in your upper neck that may have caused a brainstem injury. An upper cervical chiropractor can examine your upper neck for any misalignments in the top two vertebrae in your neck.
Right now, whether you've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, are suffering from chronic pain or other symptoms you think might be signs of this debilitating disease, or have recently suffered from a recent head or neck injury, the best thing you can do is make an appointment with an upper cervical chiropractor. Don't wait for the pain to manifest itself or to get worse before you do something about it. Take control of your life now before that brainstem injury takes control of you.

If there is one thing that every person who suffers from migraine headaches wants, it's immediate relief, That's easier said than done, but it is possible for those who seek the right type of care that will address the underlying cause rather than cover the symptoms.
Now, we're not going to try to sell the latest headache medication to you, even though we're sure that's what many of our readers were hoping for. Medicine will only cover the symptoms by adding chemicals to your body that pharmacists hope will create a chemical balance in your body.
Though, upper cervical chiropractic frequently addresses the underlying cause of migraine headaches by focusing on the alignment of the upper neck vertebrae. Those are the top two vertebrae in the upper neck, which are also called the upper cervical spine.
Now, many people who experience migraine headaches have also experienced some sort of head or neck trauma that triggered that neurological disorder. That past accident could have likely caused a misalignment in the top two vertebrae in a person's spine, also called the upper cervical spine. That misalignment can pinch the nerves, place pressure on the brainstem, and cause all sorts of problems throughout the body.
Though, just because a migraine sufferer often won't begin to experience symptoms of this neurological pain until after a head or neck trauma, that doesn't mean that trauma will always happen later in life. It can be the result of a difficult birth, in which the baby was delivered via forceps, C-section, or just the neck being twisted to excavate the baby from the birthing canal.
Though, the good news is that while medication may only cover the symptoms, upper cervical chiropractic will address the underlying cause of this neurological disorder. An upper cervical chiropractor will examine your upper neck vertebrae to see if there are any misalignments in those top two vertebrae in your upper neck that may be leading to that pain in your head.
